Spanish-speaking LDS congregations nearly double in 6 years.
An article entitled Changing face of the Mormon faith in the Mesa Arizona East Valley Tribune reports that the number of Spanish-speaking LDS congregations in the US nearly doubled between 2000 and 2006. Citing an LDS Church spokesman “in Utah”, the article claims that the number of Spanish-speaking LDS congregations in the US increased from 389 in 2000 to 639 in 2006, an increase of 64%.
The article, which looked at Spanish-speaking members in Mesa, also notes that the number of Spanish-speaking congregations in and around Mesa increased from 6 in 2002 to 13 today.

Debemos para la politica y comenzar a luchar por los que
verdaderamente necesitan ayudan. Que deberemos pensar
del Gob. Romney que quiere deportar a todos los indocumentados,
ya que dicen que 70% de los miembros Latinos en los
Estados Unidos son indocumentados?
“Hasta que paremos siendo una religión Americana, no podremos ser una religión
mundial.”
Y además, quizá, “Hasta que paremos siendo una religión Americana, no podremos ser una religión completemente en acuerdo con las enseñanzas del redentor.”
It would be interesting to see a collection of essays addressing the topic of how the teachings of Christianity in general, and Mormonism, in particular, might (or should) affect U.S. immigration policy and practices (and that of other countries).
Creo que podremos comenzar con unos cuantos ensayos que describen la “realidad” para Latinos y otros cuando se enfrentan a practicas y polisas Americanas. Hace poco tiempo escribi un ensayo para la revista Puente que discute como llegue a ser un participe del Movimiento Chicano y como lo considere un acto constante con mis creencias en la iglesia.
